Amanda Claire Starbuck

Senior Food Researcher and Policy Analyst on the Food Team at Food & Water Watch

Amanda Claire Starbuck is the Senior Food Researcher and Policy Analyst at Food & Water Watch. Her research centers around the crucial role of family farms and regional food hubs in meeting ecological, social, and economic goals. A native of North Dakota, she has farming roots on both sides of her family, although she regrets not having grown up on a farm herself. Working at Food & Water Watch allows her advocate for the rural communities and family farmers she holds dear.

Amanda is a graduate of the University of North Dakota with a bachelor’s degree in English and Philosophy & Religion. She also holds a master’s in Global Environmental Policy from American University, where she did qualitative research on urban agriculture in Washington, D.C. and Oaxaca, Mexico. She lives in Arlington, Virginia with her husband and two-year-old son.
