Michael Sligh
Michael Sligh comes from a long line of West Texas family farmers and ranchers. He has helped found numerous organizations, including the Agricultural Justice Project, which promotes, develops and approves food justice standards across the US. He was the founding Chairman of the National Organic Standards Board, and has farmed organically since the early 1970’s.
Michael has more than 45 years of experience in; organizing, agricultural best practices, policy development and analysis, including both domestic and international work. He helped draft the social components of UN/FAO Sustainability Assessment of Food and Agriculture Guidelines, (SAFA). He is a part-time family farmer and holds a degree in anthropology. He lives, writes and farms in NC.
